Why is that every Super Bowl ever, all three were used as Roman numerals (XXL) instead of the actual year? To cause confusion is able to follow him right. Why feel so special that should be used instead of the year, like all other sports?

Why doesn’t the NBA number their Championships? I mean MLB it is fine to use the year because they are the ONLY sport to start and end in the same year. As to the NHL you usually just hear it is the Stanley Cup champion, the year is left off.
The NFL had enough sense to NUMBER THE CHAMPIONSHIP when they started the Superbowl. That was because the season starts one year and ends the next. Then the game is so big they can get away with using Roman Numerals. BTW there is no XXL(that would be XXX because XXL would technically be 50-20).
Snowy hit it on the head. The 2008 season will end with a 2009 Super Bowl. It’s needlessly complicated, so the Super Bowls themselves are simply numbered instead.
just in case they have to skip a year because of a war or natural catastrophe, they want to be able to easily tell how many superbowls ther have been.
Because they use what superbowl it is, not the year. Instead of saying superbowl 2008, They say superbowl XLII (42).
I guess it looks cooler writing the roman numerals than using the number. Not sure.
To make people actually think for 5 seconds.
This is just a guess, but maybe because the NFL season begins in one year and ends in another, so instead of using the year they number the seasons. Like I said just a guess!
Good question, my guess is that it just looks better
‘Cuz it looks better..
Would you rather have Superbowl 30 be Superbowl (XXX) or Superbowl (30)
Because Roman Numerals are cooler and easier to use.
It’s a subliminal message that gets people thinking about Roman orgies.
