Whitney didn’t mess it up now. Everything she touches tunrs to gold, HOWEVER this is Stephanie’s song and noboy cand o it like Ms. Mills. Not Diana Ross and Not Nippy. It’s just one of those songs that belong to a certain artist. Just like Nippy OWNS “I iwll always Love you” lol.
I hope u understand what I am saying and that I am in no way trying to diss Whitney. I love her dearly.

@beckiers your opinon is not correct. It’s not even an opinion.
It’s called an interpretation. I’m sure when you sing along to your favorite song, you sing it the way you hear it, because it’s impossible to imitate what you hear exactly. Musically speaking, her voice is clear, intonation is dead-on and it’s not over-sung. I enjoy this interpretation as well as that of anyone else who actually has a voice.
@rjohson: how?? she interpreted it, and for being so young, i really think she did a tremendous job. she gave a nice performance; well controlled, dynamic, and powerful without being overwhelming

This is, bar none, the best version of this song I have ever heard and I saw The Wiz. live in the mid 70′s. . when Stephanie Mills first did this song on Broadway. . . Stephanie’s 80′s remake of the stage production was awesome as well. . . but back then it was important for singers to INTERPRET a song THEIR OWN Way. . . Stephanie did it her way. . . Barbara Streisand does it her way. . . Judy Garland did it her and Whitney did it her way. . .

Whitney is way way better than anyone else when her rendition of Home. To deny her range and power especially in the middle to end is just foolish. Stephanie Mills wish she could hit those high notes as powerful and as clear. That resonance and power is amazing.
She has NOTHING on Stephanie Mills. Stephanie kicked the door in with this song. It’s HERS forever.
