My music teacher wants us to find information on foreign American idol shows (like French idol, German idol, British idol, etc. ) about the rules, the judges, and other important information. I have looked on the American idol website but I cannot find any thing. Where can I find this information?
There is a Britain’s Got Talent which Simon Cowell happens to be one of the judges. Leona Lewis actually got her talent discovered on that show!
hi there,
I found an article about the mother of all mothers, “Pop Idol”, Simon Fuller’s first try in what is now known as “American Idol” in the US.
It had already Simon Cowell as one of the Judges.

As it is a format, it’s about the same all over the world.
Rules and judges, theme music, even the color (!! blue) are the same (The British company always sends somebody over to the country that wants to make their own version.
The only difference is the title.
In my country, Belgium, it’s called simply “Idool”.
(it would be stupid to call it “American” and the word “Idol”, translates into “Idool”.)
In some countries though, the program title is sometimes very different, even in translation.
In Germany its called “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, which easily translated gives “Germany searches the Super Star”
(and to say that the German word for “Idol” is “Idol” (= the same word !!)
To find info on the locally produced shows, is going to be tough, because they are – of course – all in the local language.
