I’d love to do a Michael Jackson song (may he rest in peace) for my school talent show next year but I’m not sure which one would be easy to choreograph and be school appropriate enough. I would easily pick Thriller, but it was done by a group the year before last marvelously, with zombie makeup and all. So it’s out of the question. Any suggestions about what we could do? And maybe videos that show some choreography?
I really think you should go for “You Rock My World”.
Bad would be good.
Thriller. It was one of Michael Jackson’s best songs.
You should totally do “You Rock My World” is definitely one of the best dancing songs he has. I love dancing to it
Smooth Criminal. If u know how to do the anti-gravity lean you will win the competition.

watch all? micheal jackson videos here (michaeljackson.getfreehosting.co.uk)
Smooth Criminal or Bad…they both have amazingly choreographed videos and have a pretty fast beat.
OMG, so many to choose from! but if you ask me, its gona be Thriller or Beat it, Bad is nice, and smooth criminal.. that’s a hard question your ASKING! LOL haha
It would almost be cliche’ if you were to do Thriller. Depending on you dancing skills – I would suggest smooth criminal… “the lean” would sure to be a jaw dropper & crowd pleaser!
Hi ashley,
I would suggest you perform the “Moon Walk” practice which is the true and unique icon of MJ, and it is developed by MJ. No other dancing style and skill can fight with him for the time being.
I would definitely do a dance to Smooth Criminal. I always liked that song and its got such a great dance beat. My niece is going to do use it for a dance recital and dress like he did in the video…RIP Michael!
I think you should do Thriller. That was Michael Jackson’s greatest hit or you could do Billie Jean. P.Y.T. is a really awesome song too. Beat It has a fun beat to dance too.http://www.youtube.com has a lot of dances for Michael Jackson songs.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson.
Bad, Pretty Young Thing or Smooth Criminal would be excellent choices, mainly because of the amazing dance moves, plus, they’re relatively easy to choreograph
Good luck with the talent show!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG5NhkxQJ…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdV7Kb1RG…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex30DYwQl…
Smooth Criminal is your next best choice. The outfits are so cool, very 1930s gangster outfits. This would surely get the crowd excited, especially if you play the extended version of this, and maybe add a few other signature Michael Jackson moves into the routine. I wish I could see how it would turn out! Good Luck!
It does depend on the type of dance, but consider some of the old hits. “Can You Feel It” has a great beat, so does PYT. Even though people rave about Thriller, I actually think that the BAD video has the best dancing. Especially right before and after the part when he rips the vent off the wall and the air is blowing at him. Do a google search for the BAD video and watch its entirety. The only downside is that everyone may not recognize the movements, but you can do your own.
Well, if you really want to capture Michael Jackson for a school talent show, I would say the dance routine he did for Motown’s 25th anniversary to Billie Jean. That is where he debuted the Moonwalk, his best known move, after all.
Smooth Criminal is a cool video, but that 50 degree lean requires special equipment and techniques to accomplish, more advanced than the average student.
For a school show, maybe you should consider going more “old school” about it. Look at the Jackson 5 performances, the dance steps were a lot simpler to accomplish, and ABC would be a cute song to do a routine to for a school show. It would be rather unexpected, as it is way before your generation, and likely to be well received by parents, as it is a wholesome, fun song, and would take them back
You can see both Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson videos on youtube, I haven’t looked it up yet, but I would be really surprised if you can’t find a copy of his performance at Motown’s 25th anniversary on youtube or elsewhere online.
If you asked me, You should try to put on an MJ dance that most wouldnt think of. I choose ” The Way You Make Me Feel ” Why ? mainly its a cool song, but the best part would be a certain choreographed intro. If youve seen the video, its the fountain area scene where MJ and a group of guys does the Shoop-Shoop Dance routine…NOW that’ll be a classic if people see that.
Remember to turn the lights off a bit, so they see only a group of shadows dancing. The routine is also quite easy to follow, but its simply awesome to look at.
I think the best thing to do would be a mixture of a bunch of his songs with a little bit from each of the videos. You could have simple props for each and just do a few dance moves from each. You could do it along a time line too, either from younger songs to older or the other way around. I think it would be a wonderful tribute and a fantastic piece of entertainment for the crowd.
