I read somewhere that Michael Jackson’s kids always had a viel to cover up their faces. And today during the memorial service, it was the first time their faces were shown. When I read it, I was shocked and couldnt believe it. Is this true? And why were their faces covered?

Yes–they were unveiled/unmasked at the “service”. Pro-MJ media all a gush how “poignant” and “touching” Paris’ simple words came out at the service. I have no doubt her words were genuine, however, Paris did appear to “put on the dog” w/ the pained expressions; she really didn’t know (or likely spend all that much time with) her father.
And that, sadly is the true aesthetic of the whole thing: Paris grew on and apart from her father; it’s all sure to come out in some tell-alll book she’ll write and sell in due time, likely at some point in her mid-late teens.

Honestly I saw their faces for the 1st time too in the memorial. He is only protecting his children from the harsh media people and all the other people that could harm them. Rest in peace M>J>!

No. in some magazine there was a 2 page picture of him walking with paris and prince. theey looked normal, and paris is so pretty!

I have never seen their faces before. He wanted to protect them, and it’s amazing but there really haven’t been any paparazzi shots of his kids over the years.
That was his way of protecting his children. It’s bad enough reading and hearing the lies about yourself could you imagine if they picked on your children, that would be horrible for any parent to deal with.
Officially yes, but there have been photographed before by a few cameras. And everyone else says they were covered for their own protection, but let’s face it Michael Jackson covered their faces so they WOULD get attention not so they wouldn’t.
To Mr. Wizard. I have commented along here somewhere about the phony crying of MJs daughter and they jumped all over me, the fans. I expected they would. Very hateful of anyone who criticizes their hero or anyone related. But they are the world, aren’t they?
Actually they showed their faces about a year ago..but not like to the whole world just little pictures in a magazine or on the internet..lol
I guess he didn’t want the media scrutinizing them.
They are beautiful children though, on my opinion.

Actually, this is not the first time that their faces have been revealed. There are many pictures on the internet where they were seen in public walking with their father. The memorial gaves us a first chance to see them up close and to hear Paris talked. They are so precious.

i had actually seen them before…they have been all over mags for months. i think i first saw then last year. but it was definitely the first time where they were pretty much put on the spotlight. i heard that the reason why they were covered was to protect them, so that they could have a normal life, without paparazzi recognizing their faces wherever they went. but im not sure.
The things Michael Jackson did were not strange, but the things he had to go through were strange. His children were indeed covered up in veils, masks, etc… because MJ wanted them to live a normal life, away from all the paparazzi. He didn’t want them being called names, so he just covered them up. Here is a sad fact i thought i should share:
When MJ was being interviewed, they asked him, “will you want to be burried when you die?” Michael answered no, “I never want to die.”

Michael Jackson had an idea that if the world didn’t know what they looked like while they were very young, they would have a chance at a normal life when they were out. And it worked. Whenever he wasn’t present they went to stores, zoos, museums, public parks . played with other kids, no one kidnapped them, no one heckled them, they were not thrust into this spotlight. They lived just like normal kids without a crusade of paparazzi following them because no one recognized them.
I believed he always covered their face up to protect them from the media. That way they might have a little bit of a normal life if nobody knew what the kids looked like. When out in public with a nanny or something they could go to the park and be themselves without people constantly taking pictures and stuff.
They’ve actually been photographed before without the masks on.
But that was rare.
He was fiercely protective of his kids, and wanted them to be protected from the limelight. This is because he was exposed at such a young age, and had a lot of difficulties with accepting his appearance, particularly as a teenager.
So, he didn’t want the same for his kids.
It sounds strange, but you can see it was for the protection and well being of his kids.
They had their face’s covered to stop them being recognised that easily. So that they werent being constantly chased by press like their poor father was. To stop kidnapping attempts and abductions cos as they were kids they were easy targets.
It isn the first time however, i saw in a magazine when Michael was still with us. Pictures of the family in a street and the children did not have their faces hidden.
But yeah, they didnt have their faces covered.

No, their faces have been revealed before. He had many pictures with them when they were younger where their faces were revealed. He masked their faces so their lives would not become filled with the paparazzi… He loved his kids and wanted them to have a free life… He never spoiled his kids, he hoped they could just be happy, normal people. There are also a few pictures of him and his kids more recently. His kids aren’t very old either, that probably makes his death a lot harder: Prince Michael Jackson I,12, Paris Katherine Jackson,11, and Prince Michael Jackson II (AKA Blanket), 7. They’ll miss him, and we’ll miss him. We love you Michael Jackson.
We have seen the three children without their veils or masks a few times in the past, but generally they were covered. Both Michael and Debbie Rowe (the birth mother of the oldest two) feared for their safety and I guessed they thought if no one knew what they looked like they might be safer. I always felt the opposite…they stood out more with their veils and masks. After seeing them today at the service, people can see that they appear to be normal kids, contrary to speculation about how their childhood has been.
Well, officially speaking, at the memorial service is the first time. However, there are many pictures of these children before Michael´s death, without masks, you can find them anywhere in the Internet.
As for the masks, Debbie Rowe made a declaration saying that it was her who insisted about the masks, not him.
These were her own words on 2003, according to ABC News.
“That was my request, not his. Michael is very proud of his children. I am the one who is terrified someone is going to take his children. I said, ‘You know what, I wear scarves, and it’s no big deal. I said to pretend its Halloween,’”

It is believed their faces were covered so they could lead a normal life without the tabloids spreading photos of them everywhere. There are a few pictures circulated that have the kids showing their faces, one of which was recently when they were walking with their father and the photo was published in US Weekly. Other than a couple of things they said to their dad in the Martin Bashir documentary, this is the first time anyone has heard them speak directly to the public/press.
Michael really wanted them to have a normal of life as possible, unlike him. He wanted them to have everything he couldn’t, and do everything he wasn’t allowed to, due to media, and his father. That was his way of the media not being able to take that from them. But basically, yes, at the memorial service that was the first time they were completely willingly seen. and if ya ask me Blanket resembles him ALOT.
Michael’s kids did always wear veils and masks to cover up their faces. He did it with all the best intentions. He wanted them to have as normal a childhood as possible. He covered them up so that know one would know what his kids looked like to protect them. When they weren’t with him they didn’t wear veils and masks because when he wasn’t with them people wouldn’t have know they were his kids. There was one photo recently of the older two where you could see their faces. I was surprised at the memorial service that they were so open about showing the kids because now everyone knows what his kids look like and now they will have no privacy. They are very beautiful children.

In the last year a couple of photos emerged which showed MJ with his kids shopping…so no, it’s not the first time.
Since last year his children did go out in public without wearing masks….sometimes they would wear one though,…..but normally they wouldn’t wear one anymore.
More importantly, when his children were even younger they did go out without masks but accompanied with someone who’s unknown to the public.
And since their faces weren’t know some years ago, nobody would notice them as MJ’s children…but any other children and they could do whatever they like in the public like every other kid.
And that’s why their faces have been covered up for such a long time, because Michael Jackson wanted his children to go out on the streets and go shopping,playing ….whatever….without paparazzi or fans or people staring at them,shooting photos…etc.
He wanted them to live a normal life as long as it was possible.
They probably decided for themselves to stop wearing masks.
there faces have been seen before, but not until recently the past few years. and please understand, the reason he did not want their faces to be known to the public is because that would put them in exactly the position he had to live in ever since he was 10 years old—not being able to do anything without crowds bombarding him. and tragically, now they ARE in that position. the world knows their faces, and they will forever be as famous as Michael because they are Michaels children. I sincerely hope the media leaves them alone they have lost their father who in many ways was all theyve ever known. I hope they get to stay with the Jackson family so they can be as close to their Daddy as they can get
