The first day of the show has just started tonight, at 8 pm on FOX, with a flashback in the past, to Season 1 of the show featuring the judge Simon Cowell. Then, the historical highlights of this previous American Idol season, set up on “what a Wonderful World”, the famous Louis Armstrong song. I though we are going to see a brief history of all seasons ever, but after featuring a couple of moments with Sanjaya and William Hung, it moved to the last season, reminding us of David Archuleta and David Cook. Of course we had to watch lots of commercials, but everybody I’ve asked about the show, said they were impressed with the new judge, Kara DioGuardi, a song writer who worked with previous winners of American Idol.

Some of the funniest contestants were “Bikini Girl” and “Sexual Choolate”, but we’ve also noticed Scott McIntyre the blind guy with great voice, Cody Shelton, who was appreciated by all four judges, Emily Wynne-Hughes, the red headed girl from California and Arianna.

Golden tickets awarded tonight in Phoenix, Arizona: 27.

However, it is still not clear yet who the four judges are going to be. First, there were rumors about Paula Abdul leaving the show. After she and Ken Warwick, the producer, denied the gossip and stated that she’s going to stay for the next season, now it’s the turn of Simon Cowell to say that he’s not made up his mind yet for his presents as a judge in American Idol 2009 season. His motives seem to be not that he’s not enjoying the show, but he has a lot of work to do, a lot of ongoing projects, so he has to focus.

Simon Cowell is also involved in the British version of the American Idol, called X-Factor. Indirectly, the UK show is bringing him a very nice, passive income, thanks to one of the show winners, Alexandra Burke, who has been extremely successful with her version of the well-known song Hallelujah.
