How much is my signed original Star Wars Screenplay worth?
Categories: David Prowse

I have a copy of the original 1977 Star Wars screenplay, signed by Mark Hammil, James Earl Jones, George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, David Prowse, and Kenny Baker. NOT A SCREEPRINT, the actual signatures. I’m interested in its value–any insight?

It could be worth quite a bit, if you can prove the provenance of the item.

The correct term is, indeed “screenplay.”

First of all, you have to be more specific what EXACTLY you mean by “screenplay”. “Screenplay” is a generic term for a detailed story, NOT an actual concrete object. There were no computers back then as you should know, so in general everything was written by hand until the final copies. Maybe you mean “shooting script”? And even then you have to be more specific, because a copy of the script was produced for each actor and each member of the set, specially customized in various ways just for that person.
All that said…even without any signatures, a genuine original Star Wars shooting script could be worth several hundred dollars, depending on the original “owner”.
Second, you need to have “provenance” to authenticate the autographs. For example, Mr. Jones and Mr. Ford refused to sign anything related to Star Wars for decades. And George generally only signs things that he gives to family and friends.
To summarize.. IF it is a real script and IF all the autographs are real and IF you had some provenance and IF you could actually find a buyer for such a unique item, I would estimate the value in the neighborhood of $1200-$1500

Check places that might sell items like it you might find someone who values things like that. I have absolutely no idea how much it would go for but look around.
